Risata di cenere

"Risata di cenere" is a frenetic, rhythmically captivating folk-fusion track from Sonophagen’s sophomore album, Crónicas de una existencia en vilo. Channeling the rapid, dizzying momentum of traditional Italian polka and tarantella styles, it blends lively acoustic instrumentation with an underlying, hauntingly dark cinematic edge. Perfect for world folk, alternative traditional, and cinematic storytelling playlists.

The song pays homage to traditional Italian folk forms while exploring the tragic, historical phenomenon of the dancing plague (choreomania). It translates the chilling reality of a mass hysteria where people danced uncontrollably until exhaustion or death into an ironic, frantic waltz—a desperate "laughter of ashes" echoing from the depths of history.
